Key Issues
Housing
David believes our city must invest in infill and subdivision market rate housing. A home is often the first step in building generational wealth for a family. We must incentivize investable home building if we want to reshape our neighborhoods
David is committed to:
Support and expand the homestead program
Establish accountability and awareness for the Homestead and First-time homebuilder program
Waive and reduce city controlled fees for infill homebuilding
Launch a city-funded development program for infill homebuilding and sale
Support city efforts to prioritize tax default auctions
“To change the experience of our neighborhoods, we must invest. In the roads, in the homes, and in our people.”
Business Development
Small business are thriving in Clearlake, but there is still a lot of opportunities for growth. David wants to leverage his unique background to jumpstart a crop of new businesses and support aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
David is committed to:
Incubate the development of five seasonal, tourism-based businesses
Partner with the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce to develop a mentorship program for small business owners
Develop an annual business pulse survey, led by the Clearlake Marketing Committee
Support development projects at Austin Beach and the Airport property
“I’ve worked with successful founders, and they all had one thing in common. Not money, but the minds around them that believed in their vision and fought to make it a reality. Let’s fight for our small business owners.”
Community Catalyst
David is a connector. He has built organizations and established collaboration around shared interests. Our city is full of residents who want a better future, but haven’t been empowered. Together, we can make an impact.
David is committed to:
Bridge our robust collection of community organizations to develop a seasonal events program at Austin Park
Work with city staff to create automated workflows to maximize community input and volunteer activities
Support the development of cornerstone recreation areas and parks, negotiating for easements to unlock our idyllic locations
“One person won’t deliver the change we need. Our city government alone can’t make the change we need. It will take all of us.”
